The TOTeM crew have been very busy since the launch of the Oxfam Curiosity Shop in Selfridges, London. Celebrities connected to Anne Lennox’s Circle group led the charge in donating their good for auction and for sale in the Curiosity Shop that runs from the 1st to the 10th of April.
The ‘Curiosity Reader’ designed by Jon Rogers with electronics by CASA used RFID tech to allow visitors to scan an item. The readers glow when scanning an RFID tag and trigger movie clips that are associated with each item. Once the item has been scanned the object story will appear on a plasma screen in the store, making the object come alive.
The stories are all on the Tales of Things website, and features some great tales from a variety of people including: Wayne Hemmingway, Jane Shepherdson, Karen Ruimy and of course Annie Lennox herself.
If you fancy picking up a thing or a someone elses memory that just happens to be linked to a thing then visit the lower ground floor of Selfridges.
A massive thanks to Oxfam, Selfridges, Annie Lennox and the TalesofThings team who have worked hard behind the scenes to make it happen.
The TOTeM blog and Andy’s blog at Digital Urban has more movies on it too.
